Arts and Culture ...
Williamsport has a very active arts and cultural society. There are outdoor art projects
taking place all year long. Our First Fridays of each month promote all visual arts takes place
in our many fine galleries and shops during the Winter months and then is moved outdoors from May
thru September (pictured below). Preservation Williamsport is the care taker organization of our
Victorian Mansions. There will also be in the near future a self guided walking tour of the many
other Historic buildings in the Downtown along with the existing self guided walking map of our
Victorian Homes. Pictured here is the dedication of the first outdoor measured mile exercise
coarse which takes residents and visitors on a heart healthy walk through the streets of
Downtown.
The first Measured Mile exercise walk was dedicated in September 2003 in Downtown Williamsport. It starts at the Heart of Downtown sculpture (left side of picture) and is well marked with heart arrows on the sidewalks. This course is sponsored by the Williamsport Merchants and Business Association and Susquehanna Health Systems.
One of our outdoor First Fridays for 2003. Local artists set up on Pine Street and Fourth Street. Musical groups and food vendors add to the popularity of our First Fridays which start at 6:00 PM and end at 9:00 PM. First Fridays are cosponsored by the FFAT City Committee, Judy Olinsky chairperson and the Williamsport Merchants and Business Association.
